A Little About Me
I’m a lifelong resident of Alexandria, and this community is where my story begins.
I grew up here, went through Alexandria schools, and graduated from Alexandria High School. This is where I learned the value of hard work, respect, and showing up for your neighbors. It’s where I built my life, raised my family, and started my business. Alexandria will always be home — but my commitment doesn’t stop at one town. I care about every corner of Calhoun County, because we’re all connected.
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked as a general contractor and municipal utility contractor. I started B&B Developers, LLC in 1999, and ever since, I’ve been building the kind of projects that keep a community moving forward — roads, infrastructure, and development that supports growth and opportunity.
I’ve had the privilege of working on projects across this county — from development near Big Valley Drive in Alexandria, to work near Highway 431 and Gate 5, to infrastructure improvements like the walking trail connecting Anniston’s 4th Street to Michael Tucker Park in Weaver. That’s not just my job — it’s what I do every day. I understand how to take a project from an idea to completion, and I understand the responsibility that comes with managing taxpayer dollars.
But the work I’m most proud of isn’t just what I’ve built — it’s how I’ve served.
For the past 14 years, I’ve served on the Calhoun County Board of Education, including six years as chairman. During that time, I’ve helped oversee and balance multi-million-dollar budgets while working to make sure our schools are supported and our students have opportunities to succeed.
I’ve also made a personal commitment to give back. Every year, I’ve donated my board salary back to the school system, and I created the Tobi Burt Career Ready Scholarship to invest directly in our students. To date, I’ve given more than $100,000 in scholarships because I believe if we take care of our kids, we take care of our future.
Service has never been about a title for me — it’s about responsibility.
Over the years, I’ve stayed involved wherever I could make a difference — coaching youth sports, serving through my church, working with local water boards, volunteering with fire department boards, and supporting law enforcement through my work with ALEAF. Those experiences have taught me that strong communities are built on relationships, trust, and people who are willing to step up and do the work.
That’s why I’m running for Calhoun County Commission.
I’m not a status quo kind of person. I believe in solving problems, moving things forward, and making sure we’re planning not just for today — but for the future. With my background, I bring something unique: over a decade of elected leadership experience, real-world experience managing large budgets, and hands-on experience building infrastructure — not just talking about it.
I’ve spent my life building things — roads, projects, opportunities, and relationships. I’ve worked on literal bridges, and I’ve worked just as hard to build the kind of partnerships that bring people together.
I also believe service should come from a place of giving, not taking. That’s why I’ve made the decision not to accept campaign donations. I’ve been blessed, and I believe serving this county should reflect that.
At the end of the day, this isn’t about politics for me.
This is about continuing the work I’ve already been doing for decades — serving the people of Calhoun County, working hard, and doing my part to build something better for the next generation.
This is home.
And I’m ready to keep building it — together.
